I’ll stand by you
Come behind the scenes with us and see what we do here at Conductive Education Taranaki. Today we’re visiting Olivia in her weekly session, supported by her beautiful mum Sheree and our beloved Conductor, Marcsi (in red).
We are a charitable trust dedicated to maximising abilities, supporting people to become more independent, confident and socially connected.
We’re here because we believe every child has the right to reach their full potential, and we believe that Conductive Education can empower kids with disabilities to achieve it.
We welcome you, your child, and everyone who supports them, to our community.
We’re passionate about creating local opportunities for tāngata whaikaha (people with disabilities) to flourish, and proud to have an incredible community of supporters alongside us. Together, we’re helping to make Taranaki a more inclusive, empowered, supportive community. Here’s how it works.
We are proudly affiliated to the New Zealand Foundation for Conductive Education (NZFCE).
Everything we do is underpinned by the philosophy of Conductive Education; that every child has right and ability to become as independent as they can be.
Conductive Education is therapy made fun! A holistic, person-driven programme for people with neurological conditions.
Early Intervention
supports children with additional

An innovative neurological rehabilitation programme designed to motivate young people with neurological conditions.

SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPIST
What do you do?
I’m a Speech Language Therapist and I work with children and their whānau to help tamariki communicate and connect with others around them. I love teaming with both the Early Intervention team and Conductors to provide this help, and getting out in the community to be part of the wider support our children need in early childhood centres and during school transition. I work to assess, plan and implement supportive strategies that progress communication skills, with connection and fun at the heart of it!
Why are you here?
I have a passion for helping every child find their voice whether that is spoken, using sign, a communication device, or a mix of all methods! I’ve always loved working with children and in the disability sector, with work history as a carer and in both the education and health sectors as a Speech Language Therapist. Working with Conductive Education Taranaki gives me a chance to do my favourite mahi within a fantastic community.
STEVEN
NEUROREHABILITATION SPECIALIST/CONDUCTOR
What do you do?
I am the travelling conductor who visits schools to provide Conductive Education (CE) and Video Game Rehabilitation (VGR). I also work with the adult clients.
When I am in the office, I am the IT guy and the Duke of Dad jokes. (I wonder sometimes why I am the one who has to travel).
Why are you here?
I love my job because I get to see our clients thriving and know that I helped them towards their success.
MARKETING AND EVENTS
KAIAKO, GROWABILITY PLAYGROUP
What do you do?
I run our inclusive playgroup, GrowAbility on Wednesday mornings. I look after our fundraising events and social media platforms and any other marketing or communication needs.
Why are you here?
I found myself here through my husband Craig and stepson Zak who has been attending Conductive since he was 1. I absolutely love being part of an organisation that is making a difference in Taranaki for our disabled community. I have never worked with such an amazing team before, I can’t imagine not being here!
