What does it cover?

As teachers and education support workers, we are always on the lookout for strategies to help children living with disabilities develop their full potential.

This workshop will explore some of the ways we can do that. You’ll come away with real-life examples that you can put into practice in your own work.

  • Making care time quality time
  • Preparing children with developmental delays for activities
  • The Goldilocks approach
  • Muscle tone (hypertonia/hypotonia)
  • Sensory needs
  • Attention
  • The language of empowerment

Who is it for?

This workshop is for people who work with tamariki whaikaha (children living with disabilities) including primary school teachers, teacher aides, education support and disability support workers.

Background

Drawing from more than 20 years experience as a Conductor, with inspiration from parenthood and life experiences, as well as studying the Pikler Method, FANZ (the Framework for Autism in NZ) and the framework of Enabling Good Lives, Renata Toth developed this workshop to spark constructive conversations and develop useful techniques to empower children in their everyday lives.
