Grandparents – Monthly Donor

You are here:
We’d like to introduce you to some of the quiet heroes who have been supporting us since we opened in 2017.
helping patience to get up taranaki blog post

Because we are 100% community funded; our charity relies on grants and donations. Dave and Helen Kay are two of our earliest supporters. Their monthly contribution means that Taranaki children, like their granddaughter Livvy, have access to weekly sessions with our skilled specialists and support team.

We asked them why they give to Conductive Education.

Why do you believe Conductive Education is important?

It gives the parents hope and support in many ways.

In your own words, how does Conductive Education Taranaki help people?

Conductive shows what the child can achieve with the expertise of the trained personnel. Such as how they can help themselves and carers in small ways like feeding, positioning themselves to get in and out of car seats and wheelchairs etc. Conductive Education helps not only the child but also the carer to learn what the child can do physically and socially.

What do you think people should know about Conductive Education?

Conductive Education, with their open days and publicity, make people aware that children with challenges bring a lot of joy and can have a worthwhile and fulfilled life. It encourages people to see that these special children are not a burden on society.

What does your granddaughter love?

Our granddaughter is an interesting bundle! She can enchant with a grin and giggle then wave us away with aplomb. She loves energetic movements, surfing and sliding and we love taking her out in her wheelchair, walker and bike. We love talking to her in her own language, reading, and singing to her.

What are your hopes for her? What kind of life would you like her to have?

We hope that she can have a safe ,caring, warm, loving future with stimulating outings ,concerts and outdoor activities and always great personal care. Her parents’ wishes to be taken note of always.
